The bass sound on that song is a minimoog, I'm talking about the standard version, not the 12 inch remix. Anybody know how to get that sound? Besides in the liner notes of the album where it lists the instruments, it mentions a mini played by David Frank of the system. He used a mini on that track. Thanks for any help.

I've done more experimenting and still can't quite get that sound. Any help would be appreciated.

Made by David Frank on his Minimoog which he used for everything at that time. Most Moogs or a P-5/Pro-One can get that sound..

Hi Guys,
Was the minimoog midied to anything else on the regular version of Sussudio or was it a straight minimoog? Thanks.

The sussudio bass sound was 2 tracks of minimoog sequenced on a oberheim dsx sequencer. Not midi.. .control voltage/gate. First we recorded a sound with lots of bottom without any resonance on the filter.the other track was lots of resonance+ super fast decay on the filter envelope. I arranged the wholesong, except the horns and guitar in a little room in townhouse studio while Phil was working on other songs for the album. The horn line of course was derived from the bass line. David,
Did you have anything to do with the 12 inch version of Sussudio? The minimoog sound is a little bit different on that and I can actually make that at home. Also what Oberheim was used for the chords on the original version?

They either did the bass over or used the track with more bottom and not the track with maximum fiter resonance and fast decay. The chords were an Oberheim OBxa

It's an ok sound. The most important thing isn't the particular synth-a similar sound can be derives from many of the great sounding vintage synths. Key is good programming skills; most synth players use fairly standard sounds, aren't interested or willing to invest the time to create something more profound.

The main difference in the track if there's anything, is the use of an analog sequencer just as used on Vince Clarke's albums.
